Products listed by IAPMO R&T to Canadian requirements carry the Canadian identifier “c” at 8 o’clock of the mark of conformity. Eg. cUPC®, cIAPMO R&T

Yes. IAPMO R&T is accredited by Standards Council of Canada. All provinces and territories in Canada accept IAPMO R&T’s marks of conformity. (Click to view to SCC website.)
The IAPMO R&T certification marks are accepted by the water conservation programs in major metropolitan areas, including the City of Toronto, and the British Columbia Capital Regional District Water Services. It is also accepted by some of the largest retail outlets in Canada, eg. Canadian Tire and Home Depot. Electrical products carrying the appropriate IAPMO R&T electrical certification marks are accepted by the Provincial electrical safety authorities.
IAPMO R&T uses product standards that are referenced in the National Plumbing Code of Canada as well as Provincial codes. The application process for obtaining Canadian listing is the same as obtaining an American listing.
No. All inspection authorities in Canada work under a plumbing code; be it the National Plumbing Code of Canada or Provincial codes. Acceptable certification agencies are clearly stated in the codes and are not subject to “local interpretation”. The IAPMO R&T marks of conformity are accepted throughout Canada.
There are many benefits. For example: Combined inspection for American and Canadian listings, reduced certification costs, less administrative time spent dealing with agencies, use of the most widely recognized mark of conformity in North America... and many others. For products listed to Canadian standards only, IAPMO R&T offers easy upgrade to include U.S. certification at a later date.
Standards are those referenced in the Canadian plumbing codes. If you are not sure which Canadian standard your product will have to be tested to, simply give us a call at 877-4UPCMARK or 905-294-9996 and we will be happy to assist you.
You will continue to receive one certificate of listing, unless you wish to have separate certificates, which will show that your product meets both the applicable American and Canadian standards.
